Beyond Elegance: Cayleen Davies

Cayleen is one of the most beautiful women I have seen. And I’m not only talking about physical beauty. She is an amazing human being. She is sweet, lovable, hard-working and professional.

She has a very clean and sophisticated look. Cayleen is a very well-known model. Although she works most of the time based from Miami and travels a lot for her modeling assignments, she spends half of her time in Puerto Rico. She is married to Puerto Rican and loves the island. She loves the beach, of course, and finds Puerto Rican women to be exceedingly elegant. She has directed many photo sessions in Puerto Rico for different campaigns.

She recently opened her blog: https://cayleendavies.wordpress.com and it’s been quite a success, so has her Instagram page and YouTube channel where she does tutorials to help other girls who are trying to become models.

Because of her blog, people on the island are beginning to recognize her even though we can see posters of her at stores in Plaza las Americas and has done campaigns for many international clients that we have seen in the local magazines and newspapers.

Besides modeling, she is the co-founder of a company called “24-7 Creative Group”, that works at creating and executing campaigns for different international clients and national brands. She also has a line of jewelry made of seeds from the Amazon that sell through the internet at: http://www.cayisa.com

Her style is best-appreciated in her ‘Street Style’. Very casual, modern, yet highly stylishly put together. And yes, at night she does look lovely.

Loving mother of a three-year-old. I’m sure very soon she will take over the island by storm.

Más Allá de la Elegancia: Cayleen Davies

Cayleen es una de las mujeres más bellas que he conocido. Y no estoy hablando solamente de belleza física. Es un ser humano muy especial, dulce, amorosa, y extremadamente trabajadora.

Tiene un look sofisticado e internacional. Es quizás la razón por la cual esta modelo, nacida en North Carolina es elegida para tantas campañas alrededor del mundo. Aunque trabaja desde Miami, Cayleen está casada con un puertorriqueño y pasa la mitad de su tiempo en la isla, a la cual adora. Por supuesto, le fascina la playa pero también considera a la mujer puertorriqueña sumamente elegante. Está muy bien impresionada con la moda y los diseñadores de Puerto Rico. Ha dirigido varias campañas para diferentes clientes en la isla y trabajado con modelos locales.

Recientemente abrió su blog: https://cayleendavies.wordpress.com para ayudar a chicas que quieran convertirse en modelos. También tiene Instagram y su canal de YouTube con tutoriales. Esto ha ayudado a que ya la reconozcan en Puerto Rico a pesar de que en tiendas de Plaza las Américas hay posters con su imagen, como también hemos visto anuncios con su imagen en las revistas y periódicos locales.

Además de modelo es co-fundadora de la empresa “24-7 Creative Group” empresa la cual se dedica a producir y ejecutar campañas para clientes internacionales y marcas nacionales. También tiene su línea de joyería hecha de semillas del Amazona la cual vende por internet en: http://www.cayisa.com

Su estilo es mejor apreciado en su “Street Style”. Muy casual pero a la misma vez sofisticado. Y sí, de noche luce regia.

Amante madre de un varoncito de tres años, estoy segura que va a convertirse en un éxito en la isla.

Beyond Elegance: Laura Font

Laura Font reminds me of me because she always has a new beginning. Always rises like a Phoenix. She is the “Unsinkable Molly Brown” (That’s what a good friend always calls me. If you’re a millennial, google this)

Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities from the University of Puerto Rico, she now holds the position of marketing director at the very prestigious Saks Fifth Avenue Store at the Mall of San Juan. And they couldn’t have made a better choice. With her truly classical yet always modern look, she is the epitome of a Saks customer. Extremely polished, well-mannered, master in the social graces, Laura has always been a great representative of every important job she has held. When she talks in public you watch her in amazement because she has mastered this skill. You can tell she knows her subject exceedingly well and her speech comes out totally effortless. Laura comes up to people as a very strong woman. An Anna Wintour style, strong as a true Iron Lady.

Yet behind this powerful woman is a very lovable soul. She has been a volunteer for the past nine years to “Taste of the Islands”, a charitable culinary festival held yearly on the island of Vieques to raise funds for the “Reach for Success” organization, dedicated to providing scholarships to the young students in Vieques.

Truly an amazing friend. Loving mother of Daniela and Pia who have taken after her mother’s steps and they themselves have become amazing entrepreneurs.

Her hobbies include reading, watching movies, dancing. She enjoys good food and friends. Laura is very fond of animals, music, art, and a good conversation. Never misses a Rafael Nadal tennis game. Loves to travel. Fond of flowers, the sun and the sea.

When I ask her who her fashion icon is she answers: “I love fashion but It’s hard for me to choose only one designer. There is so much talent out there, so much beauty and history to choose from. I would not mind to be dressed daily by a Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta or Valentino. But I’m quite lucky because here in Puerto Rico, we have great fashion designers who create wonderful outfits and represent us magnificently abroad”.

“I like living in the Caribbean. I am proud to be Puerto Rican. I truly love my country”.

And yes, we’re so lucky to have her here.

Más Allá de la Elegancia: Laura Font

Laura Font me recuerda en muchas aspectos a mi misma. Siempre tiene un nuevo comienzo. Se levanta como el Ave Phoenix. Es una especie de “Unsinkable Molly Brown” (así me llama un buen amigo. Si eres un “millenial”, google it.)

Se graduó con un bachillerato en Humanidades de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, actualmente funge como directora de mercadeo de la prestigiosa tienda Saks Fifth Avenue del Mall de San Juan. Y no podían haber conseguido a alguien que los representara mejor porque Laura es la perfecta presonificación de la clienta de Saks. Siempre elegante, clásica pero a la vez moderna.

Laura siempre ha sido digna representante en cualquier trabajo se ha desempeñado. Cuando la escuchas hablar en público es fascinante porque domina esta habilidad. Te das cuenta de que conoce muy bien su tema y la escuchas maravillada. Laura tiene una imágen fuerte al estilo Anna Wintour o la Dama de Hierro, Margaret Tatcher.

Ahora detrás de esta imágen de mujer fuerte tiene una muy lindo aura. Hace 9 años que es voluntaria de “Taste of the Islands”, festival culinario benéfico que se celebra en la isla de Vieques cada año para recaudar fondos para la entidad “Reach for Success”, dedicada a proporcionar becas de estudio a jóvenes viequenses.

Tremenda amiga, dedicada madre de Daniela y Pía las cuales han terminado siendo tremendas profesionales a la altura de su mamá.

¿Sus hobbies? Leer, ir el cine, bailar, la buena mesa y los amigos. Tiene muchos intereses. Ama a los animales, la música, el arte, una buena conversación. No se pierde un juego de Rafael Nadal, le encanta viajar, adora las flores, el sol y el mar.

Cuando le pregunto quién es su ícono en la moda me contesta: “Me encanta la moda pero no podría escoger uno solo. Hay tanto talento, tanta belleza y tanta historia de donde escoger. No me molestaría ir vestida todo el día de Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta o Valentino. Pero soy afortunada porque en Puerto Rico cuento con grandes diseñadores que crean piezas maravillosas y nos representan estupendamente”.

Le encanta ser caribeña, isleña. Se siente orgullosa de ser puertorriqueña. Ama a su tierra.

¡Qué suerte que la tenemos aquí!

Beyond Elegance: Elena Alvarez Westwood

Happy, dynamic and loving. That’s the Elena I know.

When you see Elena at a social gathering you forget what she does for a living. She looks straight out of a fashion magazine besides the fact that she is a lot of fun and she’s always so happy. She wants to break the stereotypes. Her job doesn’t dictate her fashion. Truly believes that to succeed in a “man’s world” you don’t have to stop being a lady.

Elena doesn’t have a definite style of dressing. She likes to experiment with different styles and her fashion sense is highly intuitive.

Even though medicine is her passion, Elena loves to party and I believe that’s exactly what keeps her mentally healthy because dealing with patients and human pain all day long can take a heavy toll on anyone’s psyque.

Elena Alvarez Westwood graduated from Science at the “Universidad Pontífica de Ponce.” Afterward, she was accepted at the Ponce School of Medicine were she completed her studies in medicine. She then moved to Connecticut to continue her studies in Norwalk Hospital/ Yale University. Here she did her residence in radiology. She then moved to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami to complete her residence in diagnostic radiology. Completed a fellowship on “Breast Imaging” at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial where she was also Assistant Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

For the past nine years, she has worked at Pavía Breast Imaging Center in Santurce as a radiologist and has dedicated herself to the early detection of breast cancer.

Elena recently joined the campaign “Man and Woman of the Year” of the “Sociedad contra la Leucemia y Linfoma” to be able to help people in the investigation education and support to patients dealing with blood cancer.

All her studies, academic preparations, work, and engagements have not been a deterrent from her enjoying her family and her friends. Mother of three boys, Elena still has time to enjoy her children, go to parties and to the beach on weekends.

Her fashion icon is Princess Diana of Wales. And she quotes a meme that is doing the rounds at the moment: “In a world of Kardashians, be a Diana.”

She wakes up every morning for her kids but she looks forward to arriving to work every morning to help women stay healthy, happy and fulfilled.

Más Allá de la Elegancia: Elena Alvarez Westwood

Alegre, divertida y dinámica. Así defino a la Elena que conozco.

Cuando ves a Elena en un evento social te olvidas de cuál es su profesión. Parece salida de una revista de modas además de siempre ser tan simpática y estar siempre tan alegre. Ella quiere romper con los estereotipos. Su profesión no dicta su vestimenta. Considera que para triunfar en un “mundo de hombres” no se tiene que dejar de ser mujer.

No tiene un estilo definido al vestir, le gusta experimentar y su gusto es básicamente intuitivo.

A pesar de que la medicina es su pasión, a Elena le fascina fiestar y creo eso es sumamente saludable pues lidiar con pacientes y con el dolor humano día tras día es fuerte para la psiquis de cualquier médico. Le fascina el caos en el cual vive.

“Elena Alvarez Westwood completó un bachillerato en Ciencias de la Pontífica Universidad Católica de Ponce. Posteriormente , es aceptada en la Ponce School of Medicine donde completó sus estudios en medicina. Todos estos estudios, preparaciones académicas, trabajos y compromisos comunitarios, no han sido óbice (me encanta esta palabra “de domingo” la cual mi marido utilizaba constantemente) para que Elena disfrute de la vida, de sus tres hijos, de las salidas nocturnas y de la playa en los fines de semana. .

Su ícono en la moda, Princess Diana of Wales. Me citó esa frase que está corriendo por las redes en estos días: “En un mundo de Kardashians, se una Diana.”

Se levanta todos los días por sus hijos. Pero llega a su trabajo feliz diariamente para ayudar a las mujeres a manterse sanas, felices y realizadas.

Beyond Elegance: Claudia Madrid

I met Claudia Madrid several years ago at a Home Builder’s Association event. So impeccably dressed. Definitely stood out in the crowd.

After that, when I began working at Televisa Publishing + Digital P.R. as commercial director, she was already working as the stylist for our promotions department. So we worked together for four years.

To say she is one of the best stylists in Puerto Rico is a understatement. I truly felt extremely comfortable working with her because not only does she do an amazing job with model and celebrity photo shoots, she is amazing at making clients feel comfortable and adjusting to the different styles, ages and looks.

Her work is amazing. Everybody looks up to her and admires her. She is a true professional.

If you think a stylist’s job is easy, think again. Not only do they have to go pick up the accessories and clothes from the different boutiques, they have to create the style, work with clips if the outfits are too big, make sure the shot is a good one, please the models and clients, make people feel at ease, get a great shot even if the models have no experience, work behind the camera, deal with different personalities, be a psychologist, hairdresser, makeup artist, seamstress, Etc., Etc.,Etc.

And then, return all that stuff back. Uff! I’m already exhausted from only writing about it.

As you can see, being a stylist is a full-time job. And quite a tough one for that matter. After all this work, a stylist has the responsibility of making sure the photos are put together in a cohesive manner in the media that’s going to publish them.

When Claudia steps in, you can be sure it will be a job well done.

Claudia studied International Relations at Syracuse University. After this, she became an intern at O.E.A. Worked as a congressional staffer at the House and U.S. Senate.She also worked at the Georgetown University Caribbean Project.

She ventured into the fashion and beauty industry when she moved to Puerto Rico working as brand manager for the Issey Miyake and Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances. She has always loved fashion, but it was this experience that woke up in her the passion towards the fashion industry.

While in Puerto Rico she started working as a stylist in top magazines and newspapers on the island and continues to do so as a Free-lance, fashion stylist and producer. She also works the creative part of her editorials. Has top corporate clients.

Claudia has collaborated with groups of young people interested in the world of fashion and photography. Worked with the “Fundación Niños Nueva Esperanza” and collaborates with the “Mi Gran Sueño” foundation, and their event, “Moda sin Obstáculos”.

Her passion: To be able to overcome all obstacles and make your life a happy one. “No matter what life throws at you, you can always move forward and succeed”.

Her fashion icons: Coco Chanel for her style and perseverance, Grace Coddington for her creativity and attitude towards fashion and Yves Saint Laurent for having granted us women, the boldness of wearing a tuxedo and look smashing.

And boy, does Claudia always look smashing.

Más Allá de la Elegancia: Claudia Madrid

Conocí a Claudia hace ya varios años en una actividad de la “Home Builders Association” y verdaderamente se destacaba enre la multitud. Tan impecablemente bien vestida.

Cuando comencé a trabajar en Televisa Publishing + Digital P.R. como directora comercial ya Claudia trabajaba como ‘stylist’ en el departamento de eventos y promociones. Por lo tanto, trabajamos juntas por cuatro años.

La considero una de las mejores ‘stylists’ de Puerto Rico. Siempre me sentí muy a gusto trabajando junto a ella ya que es toda una profesional y siempre hacía sentirse muy a gusto a los clientes, modelos y amistades durante una sesión de fotos. Claudia se ajusta a cualquier personalidad, edad, y estilo.

Su trabajo es impecable. Todo el mundo en este giro la admira. Es una profesional en todo el sentido de la palabra.

Trabajar como ‘stylist’ suena glamoroso pero no es para nada una tarea fácil. No solamente tienen que buscar la ropa y accesorios en las diferentes boutiques, si no que tienen que crear el estilo trabajar colocando clips si la ropa es una talla mayor, trabajar detrás de las cámaras asegurándose que todo esté en orden, complacer a modelos, clientes y amistades, asegurarse de que se sientan cómodos y seguros aunque no tengan experiencia posando. En fin ser una psicóloga, estilista, maquillista, costurera, etc. Y después de todo esto, tienen que asegurarse de que todo esto se publica en el medio de una manera coherente y atractiva.

Y como si eso fuera poco, después tiene que devolver todo lo que tomaron prestado. ¡Uff! Me canso de nada mas escribir todo esto.

Como pueden apreciar, ser una ‘stylist’ es un trabajo a tiempo completo.

Cuando Claudia toma las riendas, uno puede estar seguro de que el resultado será un trabajo sumamente profesional y de altura.

Claudia Estudió relaciones internacionales en Syracuse University. Más tarde hizo un internado en la O.E.A, (Organización Estados Americanos), trabajó en el Congreso de los EU, también en la Cámara y Senado y en el “Caribbean Proyect” en la universidad de Georgetown.

Una vez llega a Puerto Rico se incursiona en la industria de la belleza y moda, como gerente de marca para las fragancias de Issey Miyake y Jean Paul Gaultier. Siempre tuvo fascinación por la moda, pero fue esta experiencia de trabajo, la que despertó el amor y pasión por la industria de la moda.

Actualmente se desempeña como free-lance stylist para importantes periódicos y revistas del país y también tiene excelentes clientes corporativos.

Claudia ha colaborado con grupos comunitarios y fundaciones, para jóvenes interesados en el campo de la moda y la fotografía y con la Fundación Niños Nueva Esperanza. Actualmente, colabora con la fundación Mi Gran Sueño, y en su evento, Moda sin Obstáculos.

Su pasión: “Ser feliz, aprender cada día más de lo hago y aceptar que no importa la situación, siempre hay oportunidad de mejorar y salir hacia adelante”.

Cuando le pregunto quienes son sus íconos en la moda, me contesta: “Uniría a varios para hacer la combinación perfecta. Coco Chanel por su estilo y la perseverancia para lograr su sueño. Grace Coddington, por su creatividad y su actitud hacia la moda. Yves Saint Laurent, por habernos dado la opción de ser atrevidas con su tuxedo!”

Admiro de Claudia la pasión por su trabajo.

Beyond Elegance: Paola Carolina Colón

I met Paola while walking down the hall for my very first time at The Mall of San Juan when I heard: “ Annette!” I turned around and saw this lovely young girl walking with a photographer. Comes up to me and says: “I follow your blog!” I thought it was so cute and naïve of her to come up to me in such a friendly way that I took a ‘selfie’ with her immediately and posted it on my blog. It had such a fantastic engagement. Everybody found her beautiful and commented also how nice it was of her to come up to me in that fashion. I remember thinking “Wow this lovely young girl is following my blog, I must be up to a good start”. And “Uff!”, I thought, “Maybe I need to hire a photographer to walk around with me.”

Well, it so happens this girl is a blogger, and a good one, by the way. That night I looked her up and saw that her blog is informative and fun but what I love most about it is her lovely décontracté fashion sense. Her blog is: “Letra con Tacones” and you can find her on: www.letrascontacones.com .

Months after that I called her to interview her on my segment at Viva la Tarde on Wapa TV Channel 4, and she accepted. I interviewed her together with two other known local bloggers and the segment was a hit. I posted it on my YouTube channel and on my blog and people loved it.

She was very candid during the interview. Only 21 but she caught my eye. She came to the interview with a short and a long top over it which I thought was quite clever. After that, I’ve seen her on several occasion and I’ve never seen her hit a miss. There are quite a few bloggers in Puerto Rico and many that I like. I chose Paola on this occasion because she reminds me of me when I was her age. She tends to be quite stylish, yet sophisticated and classic. I’m not saying that other more provocative styles are not worthy of being on a best-dressed list because I find some women like Iris Apfel to be extremely stylish even though I would never dress like her. I tend to dress a little on the safer side. So does Paola.

She defines her style as a mix between classic and eclectic.

She’s studying journalism and public relations and at the same time works on her blog. She wants to influence and empower women through it and help them deal with their self-esteem. She loves writing, reading, travelling, spending time with her family, visiting new coffee shops and documenting her experiences.

She was stunned, absolutely stunned when I called her to tell her I had chosen her. She kept on asking me, “Why me?” I thought it was so cute because she is yet unaware of her potentials. So me at her age.

She’s studying French because she is fascinated with the French culture.

She’s a high heel enthusiast that is why she named her blog: “Letras con Tacones” which in English could be translated to: “Words with Heels”

She is thinking about blogging as a serious business and plans to study Fashion Business so as to grow as a blogger and entrepreneur.

Her fashion icons are: Carlota Casiraghi y Anna Dello Russo, (editor-at- large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan).

This girl has a great potential. She is definitely on my Beyond Elegance list and also on my People to Watch list.

Más Allá de la Elegancia: Paola Carolina Colón

El día que conocí a Paola, yo caminaba por primera vez por los pasillos del Mall de San Juan cuando escucho que alguien me llama: “¡Annette!”. Me viro y se me acerca esta joven y linda chica la cual andaba por el mall con un fotógrafo y me dice: “!Yo sigo tu blog!”

Me pareció tan simpática e inocente que inmediatamente me saqué un selfie con ella. La subí a mi blog y fue un éxito. A todo el mundo le encantó también su candidez. Me recuerdo haber pensado: “Wow si a esta joven y linda chica le gusta mi blog se que estoy en un buen comienzo.” E inmediatamente me pregunté: “¿Tendré que contratar un fotógrafo para que camine conmigo?””

Pues resulta que esta chica es una bloguera y buena, por cierto. Esa noche busqué su blog y me percaté que es entretenido, informativo pero lo que mas me llamó la atención fue su estilo. Muy décontracté. Su blog se llama “Letras con Tacones” y lo pueden econtrar en http://www.letrascontacones.com

Meses mas tarde la llamé junto a otras dos blogueras de moda puertorriqueñas para entrevistarla en mi segmento de “Viva la Tarde” por Wapa canal 4. El segmento fue un éxito. Lo subí a mi blog y a mi canal de YouTube y a las fans les encantó.

Fue muy cándida en su entrevista. Sólo tiene 21 años pero me llamó la atención. Llego vestida con unos pantalones cortos y un top largo por encima que me pareció muy original, casual y juvenil.

Después de la entrevista me la he topado varias veces y siempre está impecable. Hay muchas blogueras de moda en Puerto Rico que me gustan pero en esta ocasión elegí a Paola porque me recuerda mi estilo cuando yo era joven. Es bastante moderna en su forma de vestir pero sofisticada y clásica a la misma vez. Y este no es el único estilo que me gusta. Hay otros estilos mas provocativos que me encantan como el de Iris Apfel pero no necesariamente me vestiría yo así. Yo siempre voy un poco mas a lo seguro. Igual viste Paola.

Estudiante de Periodismo y Relaciones Públicas. Además de estudiar, se dedica a su blog de moda “Letras con Tacones”. El propósito del blog, según me dice Paola, es inspirar, ayudar a las mujeres a que aprendan a aceptarse o simplemente a lograr ser su mejor versión. Entre sus hobbies está: escribir, leer, viajar, pasar tiempo con la familia, visitar nuevos coffee shops y documentar sus experiencias… Tiene una fascinación por la cultura francesa y actualmente está aprendiendo Francés. Su pasión es la moda, su inspiración el street style y su accesorio favorito los tacones!

Le gusta jugar con diferentes estilos desde lo clásico a lo más ecléctico. Sus íconos en la moda son Carlota Casiraghi y Anna Dello Russo, (editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan). Tiene planes de irse a estudiar Fashion Business y crecer en la industria como bloguera y empresaria.

Estaba sencillamente anonadada cuando la llamé para decirle que la había elegido para Beyond Elegance y varias veces me ha preguntado: “¿Por qué yo?”Me hizo mucha gracia ésto porque Paola está totalmente ajena a su potencial. Yo era así a su edad.

Cuando recibió mi carta me escribió: “Estoy tan emocionada por el evento… You have no idea! ¡Gracias por confiar!”

Esta chica tiene un gran futuro. Definitivamente está en mi listado de “Beyond Elegance” como también en: “People to Watch.”

Beyond Elegance: Patricia de Varona

I love Patricia de Varona. I know her since she was a baby, when it was her Mom who used to dress her up full of ribbons and lace. I don’t know what it feels like to dress up a daughter because, to be honest, I wanted a girl from day one, and God blessed me with 3 boys. And then again, my first grandson is a boy. But thank goodness, God granted me, magnificent nieces. Because although Patricia and I are not family related, her parents are family to me. I consider her to be my muse. I’ve always told her that.

She has this rare quality when she dresses that I have seldom seen. She spends some time putting on her makeup and outfits and when you see her she looks totally effortless. Like she just casually grabbed something out of her closet and put it on. Her style is one of sophisticated elegance where she maintains a balance between a modern and a classical look. Comfort is her number one priority. And yes, she ‘s always an eye-popper at gala events. You see, I believe most women can look magnificent one night, at one evening event, with one amazing dress. But it’s the everyday street style that I’m looking for when I’m searching for someone whom I believe to have style. And that has nothing to do with the price tag, believe me. Patricia has mastered this. That’s why she was first on my mind on the “Casual Chic” list for Vanidades P.R. magazine years ago when we first did an editorial and an event with women who were elegant but at the same time, very casual. I went with her to the shooting because this was a first for her and she was quite nervous. But we had an excellent crew of professional photographers, stylists and make-up artists who soon put her at ease. Her photo? A true knockout. BOOM! From then on, she’s been making everyone’s list of best dressed. But that didn’t go to her head. Patricia’s passion is styling. And boy is she good at that. So she did what smart people do and that is to follow their passion. She opened her own boutique called, “Outfit” which carries extremely trendy and feminine clothes. All her friends go there, not only to buy but to get advice from Pat on how to pull the look together. The store has been a success from day one. Not only in sales, but stylists from local newspapers and magazines visit “Outfit” constantly to pick up clothes and accessories for their editorials.

She studied finance at Bentley University in Boston.

Designers who inspire her are Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab. Her fashion icon is Coco Chanel.

A girl who turned her passion into a successful business.

Patricia de Varona: Más Allá de la Elegancia

Me encanta Patricia de Varona. La conozco desde que era un bebé y era su mamá la que la vestía llena de lazos y encajes. Nunca tuve esa experiencia. Yo quería tener una niña desde mi primer embarazo pero Dios me premió con tres varones…y después mi primer nieto, también varón. Pero gracias a Dios tengo maravillosas sobrinas porque, aunque Patricia y yo no somos realmente familia, considero que sus padres lo son. Desde que la conozco siempre ha sido bien coqueta. La considero mi musa y siempre se lo he dicho.

Tiene una cualidad al vestir que raramente he visto. Se toma su tiempo vistiéndose y maquillándose pero cuando sale se ve totalmente casual y natural. Como si hubiera agarrado lo primero que vio en su armario. Así nada mas. Su estilo es de una sofisticada elegancia, mezcla de moderno y clásico. La comodidad es su prioridad.

Así y todo en las galas para el tráfico. Y es que según mi punto de vista muchas mujeres se pueden ver magníficas una noche, con un traje formal en un evento, pero es la vestimenta de diario en lo que me fijo cuando estoy buscando a una chica que considere tenga estilo. Y no pasa por el precio. Patricia ha dominado este arte.

Es por eso que fue en la primera en quien pensé hace años atrás cuando estábamos buscando a chicas casual chic para un evento y editorial de la revista Vanidades Puerto Rico. La acompañé al shooting porque era uno de sus primeros y estaba un tanto nerviosa, pero teníamos un excelente grupo de stylists, fotógrafos y maquillistas e inmediatamente se sintió a gusto. ¡Boom! Su foto fue un éxito. Desde entonces la han estado llamando para que sea parte de algún listado de mujeres elegantes. Pero eso no se le subió a la cabeza. Su pasión es el styling y Patricia es excelente stylist. Así que Patricia hizo lo que hacen las personas inteligentes y fue convertir su pasión en un negocio. Abrió su propia Boutique llamada “Outfit” donde puedes conseguir ropa muy trendy y femenina. Todas sus amigas la visitan no solamente para comprar sino para que Patricia las ayude a combinar todo el look. La tienda ha sido un éxito rotundo desde el primer día. No solamente en ventas si no porque las stylists de los diferentes periódicos locales y revistas la visitan para buscar ropa y accesorios para sus editoriales.

Estudio finanzas en Bentley University en Boston.

Los diseñadores que la inspiran lo son Zuhair Murad y Ellie Saab. Su ícono de la moda lo es Coco Chanel.

Una chica que logró convertir su pasión en su empresa.

Beyond Elegance: Viviane Fortuño

Viviane Fortuño is the Puerto Rican version of Coco Chanel. She is definitely one of the most elegant, stylish, ageless women I have ever met. Has never been a fashion slave.

Her style, oozing with aristocratic charm, ‘je ne sais quoi’ air of elegance that we recognize in women like Grace Kelly, Lady Di, Audrey Hepburn and yet this woman is a true professional. Graduated from the University of Washington D.C., Georgetown and from the University of Puerto Rico. She also has a degree in interior design and commercial showcases. This woman is a true fighter. She has risen above all adversity to compete heavily in this fierce commercial world. Created her own company which coordinates social and commercial events. She is also a magnificent wedding planner fulfilling the dreams of many families and couples.

Has strong family values. Lover of classic and traditional fashion.

She dedicates much of her free time to community service.

Her fashion icon is Gabrielle Chanel and her favorite phrase from Coco is: ‘Fashion goes out of style: style never’.

Más Allá de la Elegancia: Vivane Fortuño

Viviane Fortuño es la Coco Chanel puertorriqueña.

Definitivamente es una de las mujeres que he conocido, (y he conocido a cientos de mujeres bellas y elegantes) que posee mas elegancia, sobriedad, finura, y estilo. Nunca ha sido una esclava de la moda. Tiene ese aire aristocrático que reconocemos en una Lady Di, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn.

Ahora bien, esta mujer va mas allá de su imágen externa. Graduada de la Universidad de Washington DC, Georgetown y de la Univerdidad de P.R. Licenciada en Diseño y Decoración de Interiores y Vitrinas Comerciales, es una gran luchadora. Se ha levantado sola con su esfuerzo y positivismo hacia los retos y la adversidad.

En sus comienzos la vida no le fue fácil pero su fortaleza , perseverancia y positivismo han sido su guía para enfrentar este mundo de profesionales agresivos.

Con su gran esfuerzo, profesionalismo y trabajo ha levantado su propia empresa que se dedica a la coordinación de eventos sociales y corporativos. El éxito de la misma lo ha logrado gracias al gusto impecable que la caracteriza,

La distingue la pasión por lo que hace como instrumento de Dios para llevar a cabo y realizar los sueños de las novias y la familia que perdurará por siempre.

Es una mujer de convicciones muy arraigadas, sensible, creativa , amante de la elegancia tradicional y clásica, perfeccionista con rigor, asertiva pero flexible,

Da de su tiempo con mucho entusiasmo a entidades comunitarias y fundaciones de ayuda.

Beyond Elegance: Betty Martínez

I love Betty Martinez’s style. She has this edgy-modern–yet-highly-sophisticated look. With her bubbly personality, she’s always the life of the party. Not only do I love her fashion sense but I also respect her love for her family and friends. She is a truly lovable person.

Graduated from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia and from Florence University of the Arts (FUA), Firenze, Italia, she works as Strategic Marketing and Sales Consultant.

Betty also gives her valuable time to Fundación Ricky Martin, Fundación Angeles Vivientes, and Smile for the Soles.

Her passion is her children. Her fashion icon, Carolina Herrera

When asked to describe her style she tells us: “Style means something different to each person. You make your own style. It’s that special touch. It’s an art”.

Loves being around her children. She enjoys giving them the necessary tools for them to grow up as excellent human beings and an asset to society.

Más Allá de la Elegancia: Betty Martínez

Me encanta el estilo de Betty Martínez.

Es moderno, no convencional, pero a la misma vez, sumamente sofisticado. Con su burbujeante personalidad, es siempre el alma de la fiesta. Respeto mucho su sentido familiar y su sentido de la amistad. Es un verdadero amor.

Se graduó de St Joseph’s University Philadelphia y también estudió en Florence University of the Arts (FUA) Firenze, Italia.

Actualmente trabaja como Strategic Marketing and Sales Consultant, aún así saca tiempo para ayudar a entidades comunitarias como: Fundación Angeles Vivientes, Ricky Martin Foundation y Smile for the Soles.

Su pasión son sus hijos. Su ícono en la moda lo es Carolina Herrera.

Cuando le pregunto cómo define su estilo me contesta: : “Considero que el estilo es algo tan diferente en cada persona… El estilo es algo que tú haces totalmente tuyo … Es un toque especial… Es un arte”.

Considera que es importante darle las herramientas necesarias a los hijos para que crezcan siendo personas de bien y provecho para la sociedad.
